Scholarship Fundraiser Taking Place For Fallen KSP Trooper

A central Kentucky middle school is hosting a scholarship fundraiser for a fallen state police officer who was killed in the line of duty in Lyon County in 2015.

The News-Enterprise reports J.T. Alton Middle School in Vine Grove will host a fundraiser for the Trooper Cameron Ponder Memorial Scholarship on September 9 during a girls’ basketball game.

Ponder attended the middle school and his dad currently drives the bus for the team.

He worked with Kentucky State Police Post One for nearly nine months, including patrolling Trigg County, before he was shot and killed on September 13, 2015, after a traffic stop on Interstate 24 near Lamasco.
