A traffic stop for a violation led to a short police pursuit in Hopkinsville Sunday morning.
Hopkinsville Police say they attempted to stop a car driven by 26-year-old Hassan Stewart on South Campbell Street for swerving into the other lane and passing other vehicles along with failing to stop at a stop sign.
He fled leading police on a short pursuit before stopping on Thompson Street at East 2nd Street.
Open containers of alcohol were found in the vehicle and Stewart reportedly admitted to drinking a beer.
A child along with two women were in the car during the pursuit. He is charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, DUI, failure to use child restraint device in a vehicle, and reckless driving.
One of his passengers 54-year-old Felicia Loving was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear.
