Fallen Korean War Veteran To Be Properly Laid To Rest

A Hopkinsville funeral home will be hosting funeral services for a Korean War Veteran who was previously buried in Hawaii.

Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home reports 19-year old Private First Class James Cletus Williams will be laid to rest on Friday afternoon, July 19 at 1:00 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. PFC Williams was killed in action in Korea on July 20, 1950, and was buried as a Korean War Unknown in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii. His remains were successfully identified last year through exhaustive investigative efforts.

PFC Williams will arrive in Hopkinsville on Wednesday, July 17 and be escorted to the funeral home in preparation for the graveside services with Full Military Honors.

The funeral home invites all who would like to pay respect to PFC Williams to pick up a flag at 700 Country Club Lane and take part in decorating the procession route along Country Club Lane and Fort Campbell Boulevard. The procession will begin at noon on Friday, July 19.

The Korean War Project reports PFC Williams was a medic with the Medical Company, 34th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. He was killed while transporting his wounded comrades near Taejon, South Korea.
