Soap Box Winners Celebrated During Kiwanis Meeting

The Kiwanis Club of Hopkinsville celebrated the winners of this year’s annual Soap Box Derby during their meeting Thursday afternoon.

Club member Amy Rains notes they had sixty racers participate in the event that was held in mid-May. Ben Pace won the Super Kids Division, Alan Rader won the Stock Division, Audrey Rains won the Super Stock Division, and NeeNee Buckner won the Masters Division.

Each was presented a special jacket, with past President Annie Catron presenting checks to each child.

Buckner, Rader, and Rains were given $1,200, with Pace receiving $600.President Joey Pendleton adds their club is all about children.

The children will be heading to Akron, Ohio for 82nd First Energy All-American Soap Box Derby Race Week beginning July 14. They will participate in a number of fun events that lead up to race day.
