Sportsplex Celebrates Attendance Milestone Of Over 50K

The Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Sportsplex Hopkinsville is celebrating reaching a milestone after surpassing a significant attendance at the facility.

In just over four months after cutting the ribbon, Marketing and Events Coordinator Chris Jung says this past weekend over 3,000 people and 53 teams from six different states were at the Sportsplex for the 2nd Annual Rising Stars Challenge, which pushed the number of visitors to the facility over 50,000.

He notes large non-sporting events like the International Festival, which had 3,000 attendees, and Hopkinsville High School’s Prom, with 625 attendees, certainly helped boost the overall attendance. In addition, he says they have had a steady stream of various athletic leagues, tournaments, and programming that have been the cornerstones of the early success of the Sportsplex.

Among the largest visitor-inducing events, which include the participants themselves, are the Sportsplex Indoor Soccer League, Volleyball Academy of the Pennyrile tournaments and practices, YMCA Futsal League games and practices and the introduction of a popular Youth Volleyball Program, which gives local high school student-athletes the opportunity to coach and mentor players who range from kindergarten to eighth grade.

Officials say the Sportsplex has sold 665 Day Passes and 123 of the $30 Annual Passes, which grant purchasers yearlong access to the facility during designated Open Gym and Open Turf times, seven days a week.

Earlier this month, the Sportsplex unveiled a naming rights sponsorship that includes a five-year contract and co-partnership with Planters Bank and Jennie Stuart Health.

Jung says the Sportsplex is currently offering four different camps for the upcoming summer and has booked nearly a half-dozen more basketball events in June and July. There is a link provided in this story for more information on summer camp opportunities.
