Man Indicted For Burglary And Damages At Post Office

The Christian County Grand Jury returned several indictments Friday, including for a Morganfield man charged with burglary at the Hopkinsville post office earlier this year.

57-year old Mark Wayne Cunningham was indicted for first-degree burglary and first-degree criminal mischief. The charges stem from January 21, 2019, when Hopkinsville Police saw Cunningham walking down the road dragging a post office mailbag after it was discovered he had broken into the building by kicking in the door. He reportedly caused about $10,000 in damage to the door and computers inside the building.

The grand jury also indicted 40-year old Joseph Abron of Hopkinsville for second-degree assault after police said he got into a fight with a man on North Kentucky Avenue in March and stabbed him in his lower back. The victim was taken to Jennie Stuart Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
