HCC Honors Nursing Program Students

Several Hopkinsville Community College (HCC) nursing program students were recognized during the spring Nurse Pinning Ceremony Friday.

According to the school, the ceremony honored 27 graduating nurses. They received pins, with Natalie Kela earning the Spirit of Nightingale Award and Nimela Minich earning the Outstanding Student Nurse Award.

The school notes the Pinning Ceremony is designed to be ceremonial, formal, and traditional. It provides for an opportunity to pay homage to the highly respected field of nursing and the special kind of graduate it takes to fill the shoes of a nurse. Students receiving pins become a part of history – both of the legacy of these highly respected nursing programs and of the tradition of the nursing pin, a 1,000-year-old symbol of service to others.
