HCC Foundation Hosts 8th Annual Scholarship Awards Lunch

Two former Hopkinsville Community College students shared their school experiences during the 8th annual Scholarship Awards Lunch Tuesday afternoon.

Sheldon Wharton thought she wanted to be a teacher but quickly realized that wasn’t for her. After getting out of an abusive marriage and moving to Hopkinsville, she was accepted into the college and will graduate this week with an Associates Degree in Nursing.

College President Dr. Alissa Young, Foundation President Nancy Bullard, and College Chief Advancement Officer Yvette Eastham spoke to the nearly 100 people who attended.

Both were recipients of scholarships from the Hopkinsville Community College Foundation. The foundation awarded over $394,000 in scholarships to students throughout the region during the 2018-19 academic year.
