Arrest Made In Clarksville Cold Murder Case

An Arizona man has been charged in a homicide that occurred in 1996 at a mobile home park on Peachers Mill Road in Clarksville. Clarksville Police Public Information Officer Jim Knoll reports 48-year old Kenneth Hudspeth was taken into custody in Phoenix, Arizona and charged with criminal homicide.

On October 28, 1996 around 2:45 p.m., Knoll says officers responded to 418 Peachers Mill Road Lot 45 in the Sunnydale Mobile Home Park in reference to a deceased female who was identified as 23-year old Crista Bramlitt. There were reportedly signs which pointed to her being a victim of a homicide and indicators of sexual assault. An autopsy revealed the cause of death was suffocation. During the autopsy, a sexual assault evidence collection kit was completed and sent to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for analysis. A DNA profile was obtained and loaded into the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) and on February 13, 2019, a Clarksville Police detective received a hit which led to the alleged perpetrator’s identity as Hudspeth. The detective interviewed Hudspeth on April 16, 2019, during which time it was established that he was in Clarksville at the time of Bramlitt’s murder. Hudspeth also reportedly knew the victim, was present in the residence the day of her death and was the last person to see her alive.

Knoll says Hudspeth waived extradition and is being transported from Arizona to Clarksville where he will be booked into the Montgomery County Jail.
