Cadiz Man Arrested For Trafficking Industrial Hemp

A Cadiz man was arrested for trafficking industrial hemp Saturday night.

The Trigg County Sheriff’s Office reports they were called out to a home on Pleasant Hill Church Road with an anonymous tip through the Trigg County Crime Stoppers. The tip stated that 64-year old Clarance Jessup was selling dope. When deputies arrived, they were invited in the residence where they reportedly found several pill bottles with a green leafy substance that was suspected to be marijuana. Upon further investigation, Jessup supposedly admitting to also being in possession of cocaine.

Jessup reportedly told officers he also had a black garbage bag in a closet that contained prepackaged bags of industrial hemp and had $340 in cash on him. The money was believed to have come from selling the prepackaged hemp.

Jessup was arrested and charged with trafficking industrial hemp – under 5 pounds, 1st-degree possession of cocaine, and possession of marijuana.
