The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has announced the US 68/Eggners Ferry Bridge over Kentucky Lake will close at 6:00 Thursday evening. The bridge was originally scheduled to be closed overnight Friday but was moved up 24-hours.
Officials indicate Phase 4 requires the closure of the eastbound and westbound bridges for 18-24 hours. Crews expect to reopen the U.S. 68/Eggners Ferry Bridge to traffic on the westbound bridge by noon Friday.
Motorists should detour via US 641 and Interstate 24 between Aurora and Cadiz.
The closure, as well as the lane closures and traffic shifts on the bridge, are part of a two-month project to apply a waterproofing epoxy and is being conducted in six phases. The project is expected to be complete by Saturday, June 22.
