Assault, Wanton Endangerment Among Grand Jury Indictments

The Christian County Grand Jury returned indictments Friday morning for assault, wanton endangerment, and other offenses.

Dethaniel Thompson

42-year old Dethaniel Thompson of Hopkinsville was indicted on charges of first-degree assault, three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, two counts of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, tampering with physical evidence and fourth-degree assault domestic violence. The charges stem from March 2019, when Hopkinsville Police reported Thompson fired a gun in the bedroom of a home on McLean Avenue after he had accused his girlfriend of cheating. Police said Thompson then pointed the gun at this girlfriend and made her sit at the kitchen table and continued to accuse of her cheating. He then reportedly fired another round into the floor by her head. He was arrested and booked into the Christian County Jail.

Phillip Brewer

The grand jury indicted 42-year old Phillip Shane Brewer, address unknown, for three counts of third-degree assault of a police officer, second-degree terroristic threatening, resisting arrest, and other charges. Hopkinsville Police arrested Brewer on South Main Street after a disturbance call on March 13, 2019. Police said Brewer appeared to be under the influence and came toward officers with his fists up and yelling and had to be tased multiple times. Police reported when Brewer was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center he threatened to blow it up along with everyone inside. He was lodged in the Christian County Jail.

Richard Spain

28-year old Richard Neal Spain of Hopkinsville was indicted on charges of first-degree wanton endangerment, two counts of tampering with physical evidence, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and alcohol intoxication. On March 10, 2019, Christian County Sheriff’s deputies reported Spain was involved in a fight on Gospel Peace Road and was in the road yelling at another man while pointing a gun at his face. When deputies arrived at the scene they stated Spain backed up and put the gun in his boot. After Spain was arrested and placed in a deputy’s cruiser, he reportedly hid three spent rounds along with one live round in the vehicle. He was booked into the Christian County Jail.

Ahgeana Bailey

And the grand jury indicted 25-year old Ahgeana Bailey of Hopkinsville on a slew of charges including two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, second-degree unlawful imprisonment, four counts of terroristic threatening, tampering with physical evidence and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. Bailey was arrested after Hopkinsville Police reported she assaulted her ex-girlfriend in a bathroom at a home on Airport Road on April 1, 2019. Bailey also reportedly pointed a gun at multiple people in the home and threatened to kill them. After she was arrested, police said she also threatened to kill the officer. She was booked into the Christian County Jail.
