Three Trigg Students Selected For Governor’s Scholars Program

Three Trigg County High School students were selected for the Governor’s Scholars Program this summer.

Guidance Counselor Janay Futrell tells the News Edge that Cade Bleidt, Rylee Bush, and Matthew Smith were chosen from the applications they sent to the state for the program. She adds the students are selected from the top 20% of each class and the best student applications are sent in based on the school’s yearly enrollment.

Futrell notes the students will spend around six weeks on a college campus based on what program they want to participate in. The Governor’s Scholars Program website states this year’s sessions will be hosted at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Centre College in Danville, or Morehead State University in Morehead. The students selected for the program attend free of charge and get a chance to experience college life before they graduate high school.
