Residents of Christian County gathered to hear the state of the community Tuesday morning.
During the annual breakfast hosted by the Hopkinsville-Christian County Chamber of Commerce, the chamber and mayors of Hopkinsville and Oak Grove spoke on what is going on in the area.
Hopkinsville Mayor Carter Hendricks discussed progress being made within the city, public schools, pension pressure, possibilities, and public safety.
He notes the police department is working hard to keep the city safe.

Hendricks adds he is in favor of a nickel tax to help build new academic buildings at both high school campuses in the city, citing that the schools are an important asset to the workforce in the region.
