Area Residents Among Latest Appointments To State Boards And Commissions

Two western Kentucky residents were among numerous appointments made by the governor to various Kentucky Boards and Commissions Monday afternoon.

Governor Matt Bevin’s office reports Jerry Richard Hodges, of Princeton, was appointed to the Consumers’ Advisory Council. He is retired and will serve a term that will expire on September 8, 2019. The council advises consumers on consumer affairs across the state and prepares and publishes an annual report on the state of consumer affairs within the Commonwealth.

Additionally, Marcie Venter, of Murray, was appointed to the Native-American Heritage Commission. She is an assistant professor and will represent institutions for higher learning, with the term expiring September 1, 2019. The commission promotes awareness of significant Native-American influence within the historical and cultural experiences of Kentucky, as well as educates and communicates the rich diversity and heritage of Native-Americans. They also lead and assists individuals, organizations, and communities in understanding the needs and concerns of the state’s Native-American population.
