Trigg School Board Sets Graduation Date For Class Of 2019

The Trigg County Board of Education set the graduation date for the current school year during their meeting Thursday night.

The date for graduation was set for Thursday evening, May 23 beginning at 7:00 in the high school gymnasium.

Superintendent Travis Hamby says recently they have tried to schedule graduation for a Friday night, but the last few years they have been forced to set graduation on the last day of school.

In other business, members voted to approve the non-traditional instruction (NTI) application so the school system could be considered to be included in the program for the 2019-2020 school year.
NTI days can be used when classes are canceled due to weather or other issues and do not have to be made up if the days are approved by the state.

Director of Student Services and Personnel James Mangles notes participation in the NTI program over the last three years has been great for the school system.

Board members also approved the finding by the Local Planning Committee (LPC) which met Wednesday night in regards to the current District Facility Plan for Trigg County Elementary. The LPC recommended adding language to the current plan that includes: reconfiguring space-use program to improve the functionality/education suitability, renovating the current gymnasium into two stories for additional classrooms, and specifically state the new construction that will be included.
