Lynch Wins Cadiz “Best Baker” Competition

Seven Trigg County residents used bacon, bourbon, butter, and some other ingredients to compete against each other in the Cadiz “Best Baker” Bake Off Tuesday evening at the Renaissance Center.

Yolonda Lynch will represent Cadiz at the regional competition in Murray.  Lynch took second place in the competition Tuesday night, but was named the winner Wednesday morning.  Although Becky Oliver’s bourbon balls won the competition Tuesday night, Main Street Director Leida Tackett says first place was awarded to Lynch because Oliver’s Bourbon Balls were not baked.  Lynch will represent the City of Cadiz and the regional competition in Murray with her Apple Crisp with a Kick.  Third place went to Casey Parrent.

If Lynch wins in Murray, she will get to compete against other regional winners from across the Commonwealth in Covington on April 24. During the final competition, Food Network’s Holiday Baking Championship winner Jason Smith will be among the judges.

The judges for the bake-off included Cadiz Mayor Todd King, Trigg County Clerk Carmen Finley, and Trigg County Judge-Executive Hollis Alexander.
