UPDATE- Hopkinsville Police Officer Injured In Pursuit, Suspect Arrested

Police have released more information about a pursuit in the area of Alumni Avenue Tuesday afternoon.

Hopkinsville Police Public Information Officer Michael Atkins says police stopped 37-year-old Jeremy Murphy in the area of Alumni Avenue after reports of a suspicious person and he fled on foot.


During the pursuit, Officer Jamie Gapp hit his knee on a vehicle and was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center by ambulance.

Murphy was found on South Main Street and charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, public intoxication, possession of drug paraphernalia, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (drug unspecified) and tampering with physical evidence.

He also had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear.
