Some Of The Best Bakers in Cadiz Competing Tuesday

Six people will participate in the Cadiz “Best Baker” Bake-Off Tuesday evening with a chance to advance to the finals that will be judged by a Food Network television star.

Cadiz Main Street Director Leida Tackett says bacon, butter, and bourbon will be three of the ingredients that must be used in each of the desserts. The bake-off is a part of the 40th anniversary for the Kentucky Main Street Program, with the Cadiz winner advancing to the regional competition in Murray.

The winner of the regional competition will be able to make desserts for the judges at the final bake-off in Covington on April 24. Jason Smith, who was a winner of Food Network’s Holiday Baking Championship will be among the judges.

Participants in the Cadiz competition include: Lost River Creamery at the Cabin, Casey Parrent (Cadiz Main Street board member), Cecelia Hostilo (Trigg County Cooperative Extension Service), Karyn Jones (sponsored by Cadiz Comfort Zone), Yolanda Lynch (sponsored by Purple Pig Antiques and Artisans), and Becky Oliver (Trigg County Liquors). Each of the participants is required to be sponsored by a local business.

Judging for the Cadiz bake-off will begin at 5:30 in the Renaissance Center located at 49 Jefferson Street. The public is invited to attend the free event and support the local bakers.
