Tentative Trial Date Set For Gabriel Parker

The teen accused in the shooting deaths of two Marshall County High School students was in court Friday for a status hearing and to tentatively set a trial date.

West Kentucky Star reports Gabriel Parker appeared before Judge James Jameson and had his trial date set for June 1, 2020, based on a motion from Commonwealth’s Attorney Dennis Foust.

Parker’s attorney reportedly indicated he will file a motion for change of venue, which could move the case out of Marshall County. Another status hearing will be held on May 17 at 1:00 PM.

As previously reported, Foust filed a motion saying they intend to seek life in prison without probation or parole until Gabriel Parker had served a minimum of 25 years of his sentence.

Parker is facing two counts of murder and 14 counts of first-degree assault in connection to the January 23, 2018 shooting at the high school that claimed the lives of 15-year old Bailey Holt and 15-year old Preston Cope and injured several others.
