Portion Of Hopkinsville High To Get New Roof Soon

A portion of a hallway in Hopkinsville High School will see a new roof before next school year and board members approved an increase in some school fees during Thursday night’s board meeting.

Chief Operations Officer Brad Hawkins says Preferred Construction Services submitted the lowest bid for partial re-roofing of the 200 Wing.

Hawkins adds the project would begin after the current school year is over.

Until the project begins, some patches are being added to keep additional water from entering the building.

In other business, board members also approved some fee changes for the 2019-2020 school year. Director of Business Jessica Darnell says fees will stay the same for elementary and middle school students, with the high school activity fee increasing.

Darnell adds the fee for the emergency procedures class would increase from $27 to $30 and the fees for all athletics would increase from $80 to $100.

The next board meeting will be held on Thursday evening, March 21 beginning at 6:00 in the central office board room.
