Ribbon Cut For Bruce Convention Center Expansion

On Wednesday afternoon, a huge braved the rainy weather to celebrate the ribbon cutting and expansion of the James E. Bruce Convention Center. Among the crowd to celebrate the ribbon cutting were elected officials and Convention Center employees.

James E. Bruce Convention Center Board Chairman, Darrel Gustafson thanked former Mayor and current District 5 Magistrate, Rich Liebe for creating the conference center in the year 2000 as an agency of the city Hopkinsville.

Eric Loy, Project Architect said the community has made him very proud to work on this project at the Convention Center and at the Sportsplex.

Gustafon told the public as of Thursday they had hosted 4084 events, with 779,736 visitors. With their current expansion and the addition of the Sportsplex and new full-service hotel, Gustafson says they should surpass 1,000,000 guests within the next 4 years.
