Man Charged After High-Speed Pursuit In Christian County

A Clarksville man was charged with fleeing from police after a pursuit on Pennyrile Parkway Wednesday night.

According to Christian County Sheriff’s Deputy Rick Burgess, He attempted to stop 31-year-old Montez Johnson for speeding at the 5-mile marker of Pennyrile Parkway and he acted as if he was stopping but then fled at speeds of 95 MPH before exiting onto Interstate 24.

At the 80 mile marker of Interstate 24, he reportedly attempted to make a U-turn in the median but couldn’t due to the cable barriers and Burgess struck his vehicle to stop him from traveling the wrong direction on the Interstate.

He is charged with speeding, first-degree fleeing or evading police, reckless driving, failure to or improper signal, first-degree criminal mischief, failure to wear a seatbelt, license to be in possession, failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance and first-degree wanton endangerment.

Johnson was also arrested for an outstanding warrant out of Tennessee.
