A former Kuttawa city clerk and her husband were indicted by a Lyon County Grand Jury on theft and forgery charges Monday.
According to media reports, Katie Harrison was indicted on 24 counts of second-degree forgery while her husband, Clayton was indicted on ten counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument. The charges stem from an investigation conducted by Kentucky State Police into missing funds at the Kuttawa City Clerk’s Office where Katie Harrison served as the city clerk.
The grand jury also reportedly added three charges against Katie Harrison that included abuse of the public trust, tampering with physical evidence, theft by unlawful taking over $10,000 and theft by deception over $500. Clayton Harrison was also additionally charged with theft by unlawful taking over $10,000 and theft by deception over $500.
As the News Edge previously reported, KSP said the couple was extradited back to Lyon County in December after they were arrested in Sevierville, Tennessee in mid-November on a charge of worthless checks and were held in jail there on warrants for being a fugitive from another state related to the charges in Kentucky.
