3 Charged With Possession Of Meth In Hopkinsville

Two men and a woman are charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance after police searched a North McPherson Avenue home Monday afternoon.

According to a Hopkinsville Police report, police attempted to stop 35-year-old Tommy Powers in the driveway of a North McPherson Avenue home for active warrants and he fled inside the home.

The homeowner gave police consent to search the home and they reportedly found a zipper pouch with several small plastic baggies, a crystal substance that tested positive for methamphetamine along with a broken glass pipe and several straws on top of the fridge beside the door Powers entered.

Two others in the home 35-year-old Jack McLendon was reportedly found to have methamphetamine along with a pipe on him and 38-year-old Dawn Smith admitted to police that a syringe loaded with what appeared to be methamphetamine was hers.

A fourth person in the home 24-year-old Kayla Hill was allegedly found to have a purse with her social security card inside along with syringes, two metal spoons and a pipe inside.

Also, police arrested 62-year-old Darlene McLendon who was allegedly screaming about her son in the middle of the road and refused to leave. She resisted arrest and attempted to get physical with officers when they detained her.

Darlene McLendon is charged with second-degree disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and two counts of third-degree assault on a police officer.

Smith, Powers and Jack McLendon are all charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance.

Hill, Powers and Jack McLendon are also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. McLendon was also arrested on a probation violation warrant for prior drug charges.
