Sumner adds there are many ways parents can promote literacy at home. For example having a special place to store books that are accessible to children, teaching respect for books, reading books together, and giving children materials to write and illustrate their own books can help children pick up essential reading skills. For more information on the program, contact Sumner at (270) 522-6075.
