Four new Hopkinsville Police officers were sworn in and pinned at the Hopkinsville City Council meeting Tuesday night.
Police Chief Clayton Sumner introduced Officers Daniel Bruce, Andrew Hoffman, Michael Jones and Christina Martin to council members. He says the four officers are in the police training phase.
Mayor Carter Hendricks swore-in the officers and welcomed them to the team.
In other business, council members approved the second reading of the $1 million dollar bond for the acquisition and renovations for the Probation and Parole Building which clears the way for the office to move from downtown Hopkinsville to the old Chevrolet building on Clay Street.
City Council also approved ordinances amending the Fiscal Year 2018-2019 general fund and capital budget in order to purchase a new ladder truck for the Hopkinsville Fire Department with a price tag of more than $1.38 million.
The first reading of a repeal ordinance for the New Towne Station Tax Increment Financing, or TIF, with Associated Ventures, LLC was approved by the council. City Attorney Doug Willen explains this will allow them to restart the clock.
Mayor Hendricks introduced the Hopkinsville-Christian County Recycling Center mascot for the curbside recycling program, who the public can help name.

Mayor Carter notes over 300 have signed up for the curbside recycling program thus far.
And the mayor recognized Talan Ezell, a 6th-grade student at Crofton Elementary School, who was Mayor for a Day.
