‘Windows Of Opportunity’ Barbed Wire Art Displayed At HCC

A Jamaican artist who has developed new artistry through the use of old barbed wire will have his art on exhibit at the Hopkinsville Community College’s Auditorium Gallery through January 31.

A release says Sean Wallace’s work is created by blending concepts of strength, softness, and beauty from the unique medium of barbed wire to fashion art in both two and three dimensions. HCC officials say the original, meticulously hand-crafted barbed wire art is one of a kind and even signed in wire by the artist. Wallace has reportedly used old barbed wire to create designs, portraits, logos, names, signature pieces and sculptures that have been described as unique and amazing. He also offers original paintings, murals and barbed wire sculptures.

HCC officials say a public reception will be held on Thursday night, January 31, from 6:00 until 8:00 in the HCC Auditorium Gallery where Wallace will be also present the Sean Wallace Encouraging Art Award to a local high school artist.

The exhibit is free and open to the public during the gallery’s normal hours: Monday – Thursdays 7 a.m. – 9 p.m.; Fridays 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturdays, 8 a.m. to noon. The Gallery is closed on Sundays and holidays.
