Army officials at Fort Campbell are not releasing many details, but a soldier may face charges after the death of a woman on the military post last month.
According to the Leaf-Chronicle, Major Martin Meiners confirmed to the Clarksville newspaper Thursday that an investigation is underway and charges are pending, but he did not release the names of those involved, the circumstances or the manner of the woman’s death.
Major Meiners wrote in a statement to the newspaper that a Fort Campbell soldier is in custody following the death of a civilian female in an accident December 18 on Fort Campbell. He said the incident is under investigation by U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command.
He said more information will be released publicly when any charges are filed.
