A traffic stop near the intersection of Blooming Grove Road and Sanderson Drive Christmas night led to the arrest of a Hopkinsville man for drug trafficking.

Police reportedly pulled over a vehicle due to a poorly lit license plate at 11:55 Tuesday night. According to police, they recognized the driver 25-year old Trevor Gernon and knew he had an active warrant. Upon contact with Gernon, police found the glove box door on the passenger’s side was hanging down and items on the floorboard. Officers say Gernon made a statement that he had “dope” in the car and admitted it belonged to him. After a K-9 hit on the vehicle, police found a large bag of meth weighing around 28 grams, along with a glass pipe on Gernon.

Gernon was taken into custody and lodged in the Christian County Jail charged with his second offense for trafficking meth over 2 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia and rear license not illuminated.
