A Hopkinsville woman was arrested for abandonment of a minor Thursday night after she allegedly dropped her daughter off an apartment at Pennyrile Apartments where no one was home.
Hopkinsville Police were dispatched to Pennyrile Apartments in reference to a small child being left outside alone. Upon arrival, police say the caller stated he heard a small child crying and when he looked outside he saw a small girl crying and standing alone. Police report the weather was cold and the child wasn’t wearing warm clothes.
During the investigation, the child’s cousin arrived and told police she didn’t know the child’s mother, 26-year old Alashawn Davis, was dropping her off. Police say Davis arrived later and stated she thought she heard someone inside the apartment when she dropped her child off before she went to a friend’s house.
Davis was lodged in the Christian County Jail charged with Abandonment of a Minor.
