Trigg Schools Getting Additional Security Cameras

Trigg County Public School board members approved to install more security cameras and said thank you to outgoing members during their meeting Thursday evening.

Superintendent Travis Hamby says they need to install additional security cameras in the middle school and one to monitor the temporary traffic light.

Hamby adds the camera that would be used for the temporary traffic light would allow the Cadiz Police Department to monitor the light when an officer cannot be present in front of the John L. Street Public Library during afternoon car pick-ups.

Board members approved to use Little Piping & Mechanical out of Clarksville to purchase and install the cameras for just over $8,500.

Board members LaVern Baker and Linda Wood were thanked for their service on the school board.

Baker says it has been great to be a part of the board over the last 8 years.

Wood says she applied for the chance to fill in for the remaining term of former board member Sharon Simmons earlier in the year but never expected to be selected to serve.

Baker lost to Clara Beth Hyde in the November General Election with Wood losing to Charlene Sheehan.

In other business, members heard the Wellness Report and Recommendations from Director of Student Services James Mangles and Food Service Director Paula Dickerson. A public forum concerning the Wellness Report and Recommendations will be held Thursday evening, January 24, 2019, at 5:30.

Board members also approved to enter into a two-year agreement with HES EnergyNet in Hopkinsville to provide faster and cheaper internet service for the bus garage located on Glenwood Mill Road.
