Motorists who travel US 641/KY 91 between Fredonia and Marion may want to allow some extra time to reach your destination next week.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman Keith Todd says US 641/KY 91 will be closed just north of Fredonia near the Crittenden-Caldwell County line to allow paving connections for the new US 61 where it meets the existing roadway near the four-mile marker in Caldwell. He says the closure point is just south of the Livingston Creek Bridge which marks the Caldwell-Crittenden County line.

According to Todd, a marked detour will be provided via KY 902 at Fredonia to KY 70 at Dycusburg to return to the existing US 641/KY 91 at Mott City. He says the detour will add about ten miles to a trip between Fredonia and Marion.

He says the detour is expected to be in place around 8:00 Monday morning and will remain in place through about 3:00 Friday afternoon. Once the site reopens to traffic, Todd notes there will be a stop sign for southbound traffic on the existing roadway at the new intersection.

Once the roadway is reopened, he adds two-lane traffic between Fredonia and Marion will be running on the new US 641 while connections to the existing road are completed near the five-mile marker in Crittenden County just north of Marion.

Todd says motorists who travel county roads that cross the new US 641 Corridor need to use extra caution at all crossroads along the new route.
