Christian Magistrates Hear Ordinance For Bruce Convention Center

Christian County Fiscal Court magistrates heard the first reading of an ordinance involving the James E. Bruce Convention Center and granted an easement for a bus stop to be constructed at the Christian County Justice Center during Tuesday morning’s meeting.

Magistrate Darrell Gustafson told magistrates the project at the convention center is in need of additional funding to finish the 15,000 square foot expansion.

Gustafson adds the money must be paid back by the convention center, so the county will not be responsible for paying any money back.

Magistrates approved the first reading of the ordinance. A second reading of the ordinance could occur during the next meeting of the fiscal court. The loan will come from a partnership with the Kentucky Association of Counties.

PACS Transportation Director Ken Johnson
In other business, magistrates approved granting an easement to Pennyrile Allied Community Services (PACS) to install a covered bus stop at the Justice Center. PACS Transportation Director Ken Johnson says the bus stop will be built on the right side of the building, in front of the handicapped parking spots.

Johnson adds the bus stop will look similar to the one on Liberty Street between 7th and 8th Street.

Magistrates also approved pay request number seventeen for the new Christian County Sheriff’s Office being constructed near the intersection of West 7th and 9th streets for just over $367,000.

The next meeting for the Christian County Fiscal Court will be Tuesday morning, December 18 beginning at 8:30. The court typically holds one December meeting towards the middle of the month due to the Christmas holiday.
