HCC To Name Lecture Hall After First College President

Hopkinsville Community College is set to name a lecture hall after the first president of the college toward the end of the month.

According to a release, the lecture hall in the Auditorium Building will be named after Dr. Thomas L. Riley. The naming is in recognition of gifts made to the college through the Hopkinsville Rotary Club, which Riley served as the President of in 1969.

Riley served as President of the college beginning in 1965 in which the college had around 220 students and served through 1989 when the college had approximately 2,000 students.

The college will host a ceremony in conjunction with Giving Tuesday on November 27 at 12:30 PM in the Gallery of the Auditorium Building.

Giving Tuesday is an annual national focus on philanthropy held the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. Hopkinsville Community College will launch an end of the year campaign for the college’s student emergency fund after the reception.
