Two Hopkinsville Public Safety Chiefs were recently honored with state appointments.

In a release from Mayor Carter Hendrick’s office, Governor Matt Bevin appointed Police Chief Clayton Sumner to the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council as the chiefs of police representative. Sumner holds the position until July 1, 2020.

City officials learned Friday that the Kentucky Association of Fire Chiefs Executive Board appointed and endorsed Fire Chief Freddie Montgomery as its new 2nd District Vice President.

Both have been recognized by the Kentucky League of Cities as City Employees of the Year, Montgomery in 2015 and Sumner earlier this year.
