The Trigg County Board of Education approved a new position within the district that will help students be more prepared for preschool.
Assistant Superintendent of Instruction Beth Sumner tells the News Edge the position will give students extended preschool opportunities.
Sumner adds the person hired for the position will provide family engagement activities that will help build awareness as to what early childhood incentives are, and the position is fully paid for under the Preschool Partnership Grant.
In other business, board members approved the purchase of two new buses for the district. Superintendent Travis Hamby says they budgeted $200,000 this fiscal year to purchase buses, and board members approved to spend over $199,600 on the buses. He adds their replacement strategy requires them to purchase approximately 2 buses a year.
After the regular board meeting, board members and members of the Site Based Decision Making Council from all four schools met in the middle school library to discuss end-of-the-year assessment results and what they can do with students to improve the test results next year.
