Hopkinsville Couple Charged With Marijuana Trafficking

A Hopkinsville man and his fiance’ are facing marijuana trafficking charges after a traffic stop on Broad Street Sunday night.

Hopkinsville Police report an overwhelming odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle and officers found marijuana in the coat pocket of 23-year old Jorge Zalpa, along with numerous bags of marijuana in a backpack in the vehicle belonging to Zalpa’s fiance’, 21-year old Mariah Solis. Police say Zalpa claimed ownership of the marijuana, which weighed seven ounces but could not provide the officers with the correct number of bags in the backpack.

Both subjects were charged with Trafficking Marijuana (Less than 8 ounces) and cited to court.
