A Clarksville man was flown to a Nashville hospital after his semi overturned on the Western Kentucky Parkway ramp onto the Pennyrile Parkway in Hopkins County Friday morning.

Kentucky State Police report the crash occurred around 9:30 a.m. when 46-year old Derrel Berry was driving a Freightliner tractor-trailer southbound down the ramp when his semi exited the left shoulder of the road and hit a road sign. The semi then went into a ditch and overturned onto the driver’s side and struck another road sign.

Police say Berry, who was wearing a seatbelt, had to extricate from the vehicle. He was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment.

The wreck blocked the ramp from the Western Kentucky Parkway westbound lanes to the Pennyrile Parkway Southbound lanes for several hours while emergency crews worked the wreck and cleared the scene.
