UPDATE – Name Released Of Cadiz Fatal Wreck Victim

Kentucky State Police have released the names of those involved in a fatal wreck Monday afternoon on US 68 and continued onto Merchant Street.

Post One Information Officer Jay Thomas identified the man killed in the crash as 55-year old Richard Manning of Cadiz, who was pronounced dead at the scene by Trigg County Coroner John Mark Vinson. He says the other driver’s involved were 40-year old Lilly Wease, who was driving a passenger car, and 64-year old Patrick Karrigan of Cadiz, who was driving a pickup truck.

Thomas tells the News Edge the accident occurred around 3:20 in the westbound lanes of US 68 near the Merchant Street intersection.

Thomas says a second collision occurred on Merchant Street.

He adds the Highlander then crashed into the utility pole at the corner of the El Bracero parking lot behind Gary’s Main Street Pizza.

Pennyrile Electric reported over 700 customers were without power for several hours due to the snapped utility pole. In addition, US 68 westbound and Merchant Street were closed for several hours while Kentucky State Police investigated the wreck and crews cleared the accident scene.

Thomas thanked the Cadiz Police Department, Trigg County Rescue, the Trigg County Sheriff’s Department, Cadiz Water Department and Pennyrile Electric for their assistance on the scene.
