Recovery efforts are still ongoing after Hurricane Michael ravaged through portions of the south last week.
Former Cadiz City Council member Kyle Cunningham currently calls Port Saint Joe, Florida his home. Port Saint Joe is about 12 miles away from the hardest impacted city in the state, Mexico Beach. Cunningham tells the News Edge people have banded together to help the area recover.
Cunningham adds power crews from across the nation have helped to get power restored to portions of the area fairly quickly.
Cunningham says he was in Mexico Beach around the time Hurricane Michael made landfall.
According to Cunningham, the damage is unlike anything he has witnessed before.
As of Monday, CNN reported 19 people died during the Category 4 storm.
