The Woodlands Nature Station in Land Between the Lakes is continuing to take donations to raise money to help find a home for the bobcat, but time is running out.

Lead Naturalist John Pollpeter says in a release they have not reached their goal of $35,000. He adds they have until September 30th to continue this effort with the Woodmen of the World Redbasket platform, which allows all participants to keep the funds donated, even if the goal is not met, so all the money raised will be used toward improvements. Pollpeter is asking everyone who wants to support their bobcat to give generously until the deadline Sunday.

Pollpeter says the bobcat and other animal ambassadors at the Woodlands Nature Station cannot be released back into the wild. He adds the current enclosure, which is over 20 years old, is adequate for the bobcat’s needs, but he is younger than the previous bobcat and will benefit from a more enriching environment. He notes several safety improvements need to be added to the current enclosure.

Donations can be made by going to redbasket.org/1699. For more information, call (270) 924-2299. Again, the deadline for donations is Sunday, September 30.
