Henson Tapped As Sportsplex Facilities Coordinator

Tony Henson

A Hopkinsville native and longtime coach has been named as the new Sportsplex Facilities Coordinator. Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Superintendent Tab Brockman announced Thursday that Tony Henson, who has been extensively involved in various community recreation programs and sporting events over the past two decades, has been hired for the position and will begin his new role October 1st.

A release says Henson, who will report to Brockman, will primarily focus on developing, coordinating and conducting athletic events and maintaining athletic facilities at the brand new, 54,000 square foot Sportsplex. He will also supervise staff, assist in preparing and maintaining indoor athletic fields and surfaces, and oversee athletic programs through scheduling and planning.

Henson is a graduate of Hopkinsville High School and Hopkinsville Community College. He has been head of soccer operations at Heritage Christian Academy since 2011 and has previously served as president of both the Ambush Soccer Association and Hopkinsville Soccer Association, run youth clinics and led the Hopkinsville Crew indoor team.

With the addition of Henson, this gives the Sportsplex two full staff employees. Brockman says Henson will work hand-in-hand with Marketing/Events Coordinator Chris Jung to handle operations and logistics, as the brand new indoor sports complex works to continue attracting tournaments, forming leagues and creating programming.
