Fire That Destroyed Crofton House Under Investigation

A suspicious fire that destroyed a vacant home in Crofton Tuesday morning will be investigated by the state Fire Marshal’s Office.

Assistant Chief Brian Diamond with the Crofton Volunteer Fire Department tells the News Edge firefighters with Crofton, Northwest, West Side, Lacy and Mannington Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the structure fire on East Princeton Street around shortly before 2:45 a.m. Upon arrival, he says they found the vacant one-story wooden home and a detached garage fully engulfed.

He notes firefighters had the fire under control shortly before 4:00.


Diamond says the state Fire Marshal’s Office will be investigating the cause of the blaze.There were no injuries reported.
