Grand Jury Indicts Woman On Wanton Endangerment Charge

A Hopkinsville woman charged with wanton endangerment was among indictments returned by the Christian County Grand Jury Friday.

According to the police report, 36-year old April Leann Forrest was arrested on July 11 after witnesses told officers she went to a home on South Fowler Avenue with a shovel and broke the glass out of the windows. One of the rooms was reportedly occupied by a six-year-old and four-year-old that started screaming and ran out to the living room to notify their mother. Police say the adults in the residence had to clean shards of glass off of the children, but they were not injured. Forrest denied breaking the windows.

The incident began, according to police, when Forrest said some derogatory words to the residents who occupied a home in the 200 block of South Fowler Avenue. When Fowler was found by officers, they reported she had visible scratches on her face from an unknown source. Police say Forrest told officers she was just sitting in the house when she jokingly made some racial statements and the next thing she knew she was being assaulted. She reportedly said she had been drinking a little and didn’t know how the windows were broken.

Forrest was indicted for first-degree wanton endangerment.
