Congressman James Comer has received the “Taxpayers’ Friend Award” for his voting record on fiscal issues. The National Taxpayers Union (NTU) recognized Comer for having one of the strongest voting records in Washington D.C. with regards to his attention to fiscal issues and watching out for the interests of taxpayers. A release says Comer has been a dedicated supporter for lowering taxes and maintaining the characteristics of limited government and economic freedom. This year, he was one of only 66 House members to earn the “Taxpayers’ Friend Award” for his distinguished voting record during the 2017 Congressional session.

The release says NTU’s fiscal policy 2017 scorecard included 98 Senate votes and 198 House votes. NTU’s rating program calculates a Member’s voting record on fiscal responsibility by evaluating every vote that has an impact on tax, spending, trade, and regulatory policy by utilizing a methodical weighting system. Comer scored 88 percent (an “A” rating) on the group’s rating scale, the highest of the Kentucky House delegation. In comparison, the House average was just 51 percent, while the Senate’s average was 44 percent.

NTU has recognized Representatives and Senators since 1979 who annually earn high voting scores to qualify them for the “Taxpayer’s Friend Award.”
