Cadiz Council Approves Sale Of Water Plant Bonds

Construction of the new Cadiz water treatment plant will soon get under way.

Cadiz City Council approved the sale of $4.98 million worth of bonds during a special called meeting Wednesday at Cadiz City Hall. City Clerk Brian Ahart told council that two series of bonds will be sold to finance the project.

Ahart said the sale of bonds will allow the water plant construction project to begin.

He adds people will begin to see work at the site in the Interstate Industrial Park.

The city will hold a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday, September 20, at 11:00.

In other business, council unanimously approved the 2018-19 fiscal year tax rates after second reading. The rates will increase slightly because council adopted the compensating rate that will bring in the same amount of revenue as last fiscal year.

And council adopted the motor vehicle tax rate that remained the same as previous years.
