The trial of the man charged in connection with murdering his mother over four years ago has been postponed until next year.
During a hearing in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday, court records indicate Judge Andrew Self granted a motion to continue the trial filed by Jamal Mounts attorneys, Stephanie Mize, and Eric Bearden. He rescheduled the trial for June 10, 2019. A new order for a physiatric examination will also be tendered for Mounts.
Mounts is charged with murder, attempted murder, fourth-degree assault, and other charges in connection to the death of his mother, 65-year old Roxie Mounts, who was found unresponsive in a breezeway when police were called to a domestic disturbance at Mason’s Pointe Apartments on Elm Street in March 2014. Mounts was also reportedly seen by police assaulting 69-year old Marvelyn Spray.
