Murder Suspect In Trigg Woman’s Death Waived To Grand Jury

The Christian County Grand Jury will soon hear evidence in the murder case against a Hopkinsville man charged in connection to the death of a Trigg County woman last week.

According to court records, 31-year old Brandon Pickett appeared in court Wednesday before Judge Jim Adams and his case was waived to the grand jury.  He was charged by the Christian County Sheriff’s Office with DUI and murder after deputies said 49-year old Trina McAllister Akin of Cadiz fell out of his Jeep on Striped Bridge Road on the night of August 28th. She died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. The Christian County Coroner’s Office said an autopsy showed she died of a head injury. Pickett was arrested on the scene and lodged in the Christian County Jail.

Court records indicate once Pickett pays a $5,000 bond on an unrelated contempt of court warrant, Judge Jim Adams says he could be released on his own recognizance and was ordered to wear an ankle monitor.
