City Council Approves 1st Reading of 2018-19 Tax Rates

Hopkinsville City Council approved the first reading of the tax levy for real property and personal property for the Fiscal Year 2018-2019.

During Tuesday night’s meeting, Mayor Carter Hendricks acknowledged the property tax levy was recommended by Chief Financial Officer Robert Martin and favorably approved by the Committee of the Whole at the last meeting to keep the tax rates the same as the past few years.

The ordinance passed by a vote of 8-0 with council members Phillip Brooks, Thomas Grant, Tom Johnson and Kimberly McCarley absent from the meeting.

In other business, council approved the downtown development incentive policy, and a loan and WINS budget amendment that swaps out $100,000 previously allocated toward the Joe Mumford Park toward construction costs with East 2nd Park.
